DreamSmith's Fiction Library

Entrance

Welcome to the DreamForge.
Here you'll find some short stories, novellas, and even a novel or two, all based on Joss Whedon's 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'.
(Though in fact, nearly all of these tales revolve around Faith, not Buffy)

New Story: 'That's Just Like You', a bit of fluffy Fuffy fic.
I will write for Food!
If you enjoy these stories, please help me cover the cost of maintaining an ad-free website. Even a dollar or two is much appreciated; us writer-types tend to be poor, and I'm no exception.
Thank you!

(Obviously it would be wrong for me to solicit funds in return for providing fanfiction based on Buffy, or Angel, or the character of Faith. So I'm not. There are original stories on the site, and it's those that I'm using the site to promote. The fanfiction present here is purely incidental. Really.)

'A Drop in the Ocean'
Wesley Wyndam-Pryce is not the sort of man to accept something at face value.
Illyria, a Goddess reborn, is not the sort to suffer fools gladly.
This story follows both of them, as they seek to discover the truth of this, the next stage of their lives.
'Soak up the Sun'
After Buffy's Fourth Season, Faith is putting together a new life for herself. There are, no doubt, any number of rousing tales from this time. Tales of triumphant adventure, of sacrifice and pain.
This ain't one of those.
Indulging in a bit of down-time, Faith takes a break, goes to the beach, and kicks back.
Not everything in her life is a blood-soaked struggle for survival.
Sometimes she just wants to... hang.
'As I Once Was'
Illyria has been humbled, but not broken. With her powers torn from her, she must now move forward and discover what the future will hold. Of course, a fallen goddess may still be able to give fate a nudge in the right direction....
'Walking About'
Mere weeks after her arrival in Sunnydale, an angry and confused Faith skips town. Soon, however, her aimless 'walkabout' turns into something more serious than she would have dreamed possible; a quest for her place in the world, and a chance to save that very world... and not as one of Buffy's sidekicks.
"A Thing of Terrible Beauty"
"Worthy of our Faith"
These stories fit within the framework of the show...
if you tilt your head sideways and squint really hard.

During the summer after the Season Three finale, Buffy faces new foes, and her friends face the realization that something is very wrong with their Slayer.... Click here to go to the Chapters

"Interludes"

(Novella, 50,000 words)
Set during Faith's coma, it shows that she managed to do more than just lie there during those eight months. (Prequel to 'Of Things That Are Not...')

"Of Things That Are Not...
A Christmas story, featuring Buffy and Faith, set during Season Four. Wait a minute; wasn't Faith in a coma then? Hmm... something odd must be happening. Join Buffy as she tries to figure out what the hell is going on in Sunnydale. (Continuing the storyline from 'Interludes')

Day Six: Coming this spring

At Midnight, February 10th, 1999, Mayor Wilkens performed The Dedication. This ritual rendered him invulnerable to physical harm for One Hundred Days, leading up to his ascension. Four days after the Dedication, Faith knocked on the door to his office, looking for a job. After that, we were shown only scattered glimpses of Faith’s activities as she worked for the Mayor. What else did she do? What else happened during those ninety-six days between the end of "Consequences" and the end of "Graduation Day"?
Gavin's somewhat disturbing vision of Faith in this story. Click for the full-sized version "Rumors of My Demise..."

"Tearing the Veil"
(Faith's Halloween Tale)

Gifts Discarded
(A short Angst piece)
'Virtue of a Warrior'
Faith faces her greatest test; and she faces it alone.
No Buffy to love/hate, no Mayor to take care of her, no vampires to slay.
In the bloody streets of a city engulfed in shadow, the Dark Slayer will
make choices whose effects will echo through the ages.
'Faith and Buffy's Super-Happy-Ending Bedtime Story'(Updated!)
Sometime after 'Virtue of a Warrior', Faith stops to reflect on the past. What passed between Buffy and herself can never be changed, but what if things had happened differently?
Could their story have been a happy one? Could the two Slayers, with so much in common and so much more trying to hold them apart, have even known something as elusive as love?
Maybe. Come and listen as she tries to explain how it should have happened.
